History/Overview
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Limited is a sort of in-between version of Chevy’s full-size pickup that looks like the 2021 model but comes with some of the features of the refreshed 2022 model before the updated truck makes its market debut.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
The most notable change relative to the 2021 Silverado 1500 is the Limited’s deletion of a 4.3L V6 gas engine, which leaves the 2.7L turbo four-cylinder as the entry-level power source. Also gone is a 6-speed automatic transmission, making either 8- or 10-speed gearboxes carried forward from last year standard depending on trim.
Available Trims
Chevrolet offers the Silverado 1500 Limited in WT, Custom, LT, RST, LTZ, and High Country trim levels. Depending on the trim you choose, you get a choice of 2.7L turbo four-cylinder, 5.3L V8 and 6.2L V8 gas engines, and a 3.0L inline-six turbodiesel. 2.7L and 5.3L trucks get an 8-speed automatic transmission, and 3.0L and 6.2L models get the 10-speed. Two- and four-wheel drive are available.
Standard Features
WT (work truck) trim comes with 17-inch steel wheels, locking tailgate, a three-seat front bench, six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, power windows/door locks, vinyl seats, and air conditioning.
Custom moves up to 20-inch aluminum wheels, body-colour bumpers, remote engine start, a rear window defroster, LED cargo bed lighting, power-locking EZ lift tailgate, heated side mirrors, trailer hitch receiver with wiring harness, carpeted floors, cruise control, vinyl floor mats, keyless entry, and cloth seating.
Custom Trail Boss gets 18-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, recovery hooks, and a lifted suspension.
LT adds an 8.0-inch touchscreen, 17-inch aluminum wheels, body-colour door handles, chrome exterior trim, dual-zone A/C, a power driver’s seat, LED headlights, heated front seats, heated/leather-trimmed steering wheel, passive keyless entry, and a telescopic steering column.
LT Trail Boss gains LED taillights and fog lights, recovery hooks, lifted suspension, front bucket seats, and all-weather floor liners.
RST’s additions include 18-inch wheels.
LTZ gets 20-inch wheels, extra chrome exterior trim, auto-dimming/power-folding side mirrors, ventilated front seats, front and rear park assist, blind spot monitor, lane change alert, rear cross traffic alert, power tailgate, a 120-volt power outlet, auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather seating, an integrated garage door remote, and wireless smartphone integration.
Finally, High Country trim brings a spray-in bedliner, upgraded LED headlights, an 8.0-inch digital driver display, Bose audio, and navigation.
Key Options
WT can be optioned with convenience (keyless entry, cruise control, EZ lift tailgate, rear defroster, power mirrors) and safety (blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, perimeter lighting) packages.
A Custom safety confidence package adds forward collision alert with automatic braking, and a 4.2-inch driver info display.
LT and RST offer a True North Edition Plus pack of wireless phone projection, power-sliding rear window, 20-inch wheels, satellite radio, and extra USB ports. There’s also a Z71 Off-Road package.
RST Redline Edition brings upgraded headlights, spray-in bedliner, 20-inch wheels, and various black exterior trim pieces.
LTZ Premium models get a sunroof, safety alert seat, navigation, and wireless charging. A tech package brings a rear camera mirror, 8.0-inch driver info display, head-up display, and a bed-view camera.
Finally, High Country Deluxe gains a sunroof, safety alert seats, and adaptive cruise. A safety package II gains automatic high beams and a following distance indicator. You can also get the tech package here.
Fuel Economy
Chevrolet’s fuel consumption estimates for the Silverado 1500 Limited are as follows: 10.2/7.5 L/100 km (city/highway) for the 3.0L turbodiesel and 2WD, and 10.5/9.1 L/100 km with 4WD; 12.5/10.6 L/100 km with the 2.7L turbo four-cylinder and 2WD, and 13.9/12.0 with 4WD; 15.1/11.3 L/100 km for 5.3L models with 2WD, and 15.6/11.9 with 4WD; and the 6.2L V8 is rated for 15.7/11.9 L/100 km with 4WD.
Competition
The Silverado 1500 Limited competes with the GMC Sierra, Ford F-150, Ram 1500, and Toyota Tundra.
